Book Review: Faultline: Lexi: an exclusive book club edition by Mia Michele

Alessandra “Lexi” Masters is a librarian who gave up everything when her FBI agent father was murdered ten years ago. Suspecting a key player in the New York City underworld of the crime, she leaves the life she knows behind in order to pursue the truth. When she comes face-to-face with Giovanni Masseretti, a BDSM-loving Mafioso, she is burned awake from her numbness and must decide whether what she has found is worth the past she will be forced to lose. Told in cascading, split-POV perspective, Faultline allows the reader to see inside the hearts and souls of both Lexi and Giovanni. It is a roller coaster of joy and sadness, hope and angst, forgiveness and renewal, and is a novel that will keep readers guessing the conclusion until the very end. This exclusive book club edition includes book club questions in an easy-to-read, three novel collection.

Book Review: Within a Captain’s Soul by Lisa A. Olech

A pirate romance like no other!

Captain William Quinn is shipwrecked on the island of one of the most powerful and dangerous pirates, Captain Jian Jun. But why is Will silent and not speaking or reacting to sound? Jun soon realizes that Will is deaf and mute and figures out a way to communicate with him. While Will is desperately searching for word of any of his surviving crew, Jun and her crew are trying to figure out if Will is who he says he is; is he an enemy spy?

This is my first read by this author, and a great read it was! You’ll have no trouble imagining the story. The author has a true gift with words. I’m excited to read the previous book in the series!

Book Review: Will Rise from Ashes by Jean M. Grant

AJ Sinclair and her oldest son Will are home awaiting her brother and her youngest son’s arrival when suddenly a volcano erupts near her brother’s location across the country causing communication to go down. AJ makes the decision to venture cross country with her son Will, who has autism, to find her youngest son and brother, all while hoping that they’re ok and nothing has happened to them.

I loved this book!!! I love a good disaster story, and it was sooo good. It was an adventure that I didn’t want to end! There were a few chapters from Will’s point of view that I thought were great as well, as they give insight on what it might be like to be a child who has autism and how their brain might process things.

There is so much to the story. To drive cross country while the world starts to panic, and you still have to take care of a child, and you lost your husband not long ago etc etc etc. It was just so much going on but that’s what made it so good!!! I didn’t want this book to end.

And to top all that, it has romance! Definitely give this book a read, you won’t be disappointed.

Book Review: Sasha’s Secret Santa by Peggy Jaeger

Christmas is coming and what better way to get in the mood then with a Christmas romance! This was my first Peggy Jaeger book but won’t be my last. Sasha quit her nursing job and is working back home at her family’s diner when she eventually bumps into customer Steve. There’s the perfect amount of mystery about why Sasha quite her nursing job and about why she’s having so much anxiety in certain situations. I appreciate how Steve considers Sasha’s boundaries and she doesn’t have to tell him things twice. I really enjoyed this book because it was just the right amount of everything. Not too fluffy, not too deep, just a perfect Christmas romance. So if you’re looking for your next Christmas romance book…here it is!

Book Review: Cole by Christine Donovan

Cole Jackson is a rock star who went to prison for a murder he didn’t commit. Reading books by author Shannon Gallagher got him through his days. Cole and Shannon meet and their story begins.

I really enjoyed this book! I visualized what was going on immediately and got lost in the story. I appreciated how this was a love story with characters in their 30’s too! What made it really enjoyable was the many conflicts taking place throughout the book at once. (If everything was smooth sailing what a boring book it would be.) Donovan knows how to keep you engaged until the very last page.

If you’re looking for a contemporary romance book to read, pick up Cole by Christine Donovan today! (It’s book 1 in A Standish Bay Romance series).
