As you read in the synopsis, Beth and Rick are working things out, and then BAM, Dave ends up in Beth’s class!!  Beth is honest to Rick about it though, but it obviously doesn’t help their marriage.  But just like the title suggests, Beth really still doesn’t know what she wants.

You know if you’ve read the first book, right before Beth was about to sleep with Dave, Rick called so it never happened.  So Beth has been building up that moment in her head.  The thing is, the grass usually seems greener on the other side doesn’t it?  Usually your imagination is way better than the real thing. But Beth still isn’t seeing clearly, and one of her new friends isn’t really the best influence which also doesn’t help her out.

So, I was shocked at what happened in this book, to be honest.  I wasn’t expecting it.  But again, that’s what makes it so good.  And just like the first book, I totally didn’t agree with Beth’s decisions.  But again, that’s what makes it a good book.

So yes, I really liked it and definitely recommend.

When I saw the title of this book I knew I had to read it.  I mean, come on, I’m a blogger girl myself.  I was never really into chick lit, but I find myself being drawn to it lately.  Or maybe it’s just because the chick lit books I’m reading lately are better books.  Either way, this was the second Meredith Schorr book I’ve read (I still need to write a review for the 1st) and I really enjoyed it.

Besides being a blogger myself, I didn’t really relate to Kim, the main character, at all.  But that didn’t bother me.  After all, I like to read to escape, not to read about myself.  And Kim was a confident, likeable character to read about.

Schorr pulled me into the story with ease, a story in which I read in two nights.  I have a five year old and one year old twins, so take that into consideration.  I don’t waste my limited free time.  Honestly, the last thing I thought after reading this book was contacting her book manager to say send me all of Schorr’s books for review.  🙂

This is the last book in one of my favorite series, and that’s okay with me.

This series started out amazing.  I absolutely LOVED the first three books.  But then things, well, they were still pretty great, but it just wasn’t the same.  You know how the excitement of first love fades?  Well, I felt something like that.

So the fact that this was the last book in the series is okay with me.  I think it’s time.  Now, don’t get me wrong, this was still a great book.  I’m just glad that Ms. Frost is ending on a great note.  So basically, if you’re already reading this series, definitely read this and finish the series!

And if you haven’t read this series yet, give the first one a try, it’s so fangtastic.  😉

I love it when a book is surprisingly awesome.  The main character, Siobhan, is pretty kick ass.  As you read in the synopsis, a visitor to earth left her with a pair of wings.  Wings!  And despite the obvious challenges that must have presented, she moves forward with life and just takes it in stride.  Siobhan is part of a sorority in her college, and that was pretty cool to see, especially since I was never in one (I don’t think I even know anyone who was.)  So it was a neat insight into sorority living, plus I felt that made the book unique as well.

Jasper, the dark angel that gifted her with wings, annoyed me a little bit, but I think that was the author’s intention.  And I wish the front page showed how to pronounce Siobhan’s name.  (It is in the book, but not right at the beginning.)  You know when you read to yourself in your head; I think I just mumbled through her name every time.

I’ve never read anything similar to this story, and that’s a good thing.  It gets tiring when you read stories that feel the same, over and over and over again.  Greek gods, myths, college living, romance; it’s all there.  So my hats off to you Ms. Stacy; you made a fan out of me and I can’t wait to read the next one.

He turned his narrowing eyes from her to me.  “She’s the zombie?”

Was it my job to remind him “zombie” is a derogatory term?  Yes.

“Necronite,” I corrected.  I threw the muffin wrapper in the bedside trashcan.  “I’m the Necronite here to die so you can keep on a-livin.” (location 56 on Kindle.)

 

Jesse is a death replacement agent.  Only Necronites can take this position as it requires the agent to die in order to save the client.  Necronites come back to life after a day or a few days, depending on their injuries.  One day on the job, a client tried to cut off Jesse’s head, which would prevent her from coming back to life ever again.  This stirs up a bunch of events that lead to Jesse getting in trouble and investigated by the government.  And to top it off Jesse begins to hallucinate and starts to see an angel named Gabriel.  Or perhaps Gabriel isn’t a hallucination after all…..

I love Jesse; she is a girl of my own heart.  She’s not afraid to assert her opinion, and it’s usually in a sarcastic manner.  She made me smile and laugh out loud.  She likes to dress comfortably, and you can usually find her in mismatched sneakers (she usually loses one when she dies).

There are two possible love interests in Jesse’s life, Ally, her personal assistant, and Lane, who Jesse has a ‘no strings attached’ friends with benefits relationship with.  They both care about Jesse a lot, but she tries to avoid relationships with both of them for her own reasons.

I love learning random facts while reading for fun.   Do you know that feeling when you go to sleep and then it feels like your falling and you jerk awake?  That’s called a myoclonic jerk.  Your brain sends a signal causing the jerk, because it’s mistaking your slow breathing for dying.  The ‘jerk’ makes your muscles and heart contract for the purpose of waking you up.  I bet you’re a little creeped out now after reading this; I know I was!  (This was brought up by Jesse when explaining to others how a Necronite’s body and brain reacts differently than the average human.)

I only have praise for this book.  The editing was good, the characters were awesome.  It was fast moving and interesting.  But also, it was unique.  It wasn’t another vampire or werewolf book that’s already been done.  Dying for a Living is a one of a kind novel, and a really good one at that.  So if you’re into urban fantasy go read it, just don’t call Jesse a zombie; she takes offense.
